My mother always wears dark bathing suits,
black and navy blue.
I always thought that it was about confidence.
But the truth is, when she slips on her sunglasses
and dives under with a dolphin kick and her hair
is all slicked back with salt water,

she's beautiful.

And she embodies the freedom and confidence
of the sea.
