Wheaties, Breakfast of Champions

As long as I make it to Friday, I'll be sane!! :]

A Death
Laughter, like pomegranate seeds
and tumbling pincushions,
penetrates my mind.

Dark corners, with heavy, blunt, neon-sign edges,
and tow trucks lifting concrete;
it's a pressure against the convex softness
of my skull.

A heart: beautiful and beating and mine.

The ice cold rush, like splintering metal,
flushes my veins, and venom seeps from my neck.

I hear a scratch of feet (cloven or un-cloven? I cannot tell.)
against the messy pathway of brick and sand.
It's fleeting and harsh and slamming in my mind,
but gone in the next second.

A brilliant shade of magenta light,
and the overwhelming feeling of a final mistake.

I just started reading the Percy Jackson series, and naturally my mind takes me back to the myths.
